Deli Delish

Deli Delish provides soul food to satisfy everyone’s tastes, set in a warm and welcoming environment. The vibe is cool, classic and light, with a wrap around balcony that brings the outside in (but keeps the elements at bay). Furnishing an old house in classic white wicker, scattering lots of comfy cushions on the sofas, displaying mouth-watering food in the deli section and playing a sexy soundtrack certainly gets one in the mood to relax.

Designed to be a home from home, a space to kick back and relax, catch up or slow down, Deli Delish in Hout Bay has come up with the goods to keep not only the locals happy, but also appease the appetite of the international market. Although the location is merely a stone’s throw from the beach in a semi-rural environment, its make-up is in tune with European cosmopolitan centres, providing the best of both worlds. Tables spill out onto the pavement and weekends see an eclectic collection of patrons talking, eating or merely relaxing in the shade of the Ficas trees, lapping up the last bits if Autumn sunshine.

Chefs Dave Charlsey and owner-chef Brett Nussey have created a range of real home-cooked foods to curb any ideas you may have had of staying at home, including specialities such as Moroccan Chicken Tagine, Traditional Malay Curries and classic favourites such as Oxtail and Venison Stew. Other now-famous dishes such as the Deli Delish Greek-Style Lamb Burger and the Proscuitto-Wrapped Fillet have become permanent features on the menu, as have the Giant Tiger Prawns with Mango and Chilli Relish.

In the deli section you’ll find a dizzying range of imported or local cured meats and cheeses, speciality condiments, fresh breads and patés. Take them home or build your own sandwich on a freshly baked ciabatta for an al fresco lunch on the spot, or simply stop in for a drop-dead coffee en route to the office.
