Forecast for the Year 2011

As we have all experienced thus far time has certainly accelerated over the year.  The wonderful hype of the 2010 World Cup came and went, celebrating Christmas and New Year has certainly left its mark; we shall be working tirelessly to shed those extra kilos!  Nonetheless from a business point of view we all strive to maximise our client base and build a loyal and lasting business relationship.

TreasureAfrica.com is a portal providing tourists and visitors to Hout Bay, Camps Bay, Llandudno and other areas in Cape Town with information about the treasures of our scenic world. You will find quality accommodation in Hout Bay, Camps Bay, Llandudno, and Cape Town, restaurants, activities, places to see, shopping opportunities, photo galleries and much more!

This is the reason TreasureAfrica is as successful as it is because our intentions are clear.  In our experience we have learnt that visitors to the site value personal contact and it is for this reason that the telephone details are displayed including your business details, contact person, address and fax number.  We would like to assist you in increasing the amount of visitors to your site; this is monitored by the amount of hits on your page which is revealed for all to see.  Here are some valuable pointers to boost your profit margins for 2011:

Food for thought

If you were looking for accommodation, a place to eat or something to do would you chose your own business?

A picture is worth a thousand words

Do the pictures on your webpage do your business justice?

Clear, high resolution pictures incorporating colour and clarity are your gateway to securing bookings or drawing customers to your restaurant or shop.

Return visits

Customer service in any business is the drawing card for your guests or clients to return to your accommodation, restaurant or shop.  Are you providing your customers with good quality service, are you taking note on their feedback and making changes accordingly? People want to see you succeed and they therefore are always willing to share their point of view, it is up to you to use it to your advantage.

Using your competitive edge

What is your unique selling point? How do you differ from the next guest house, restaurant or shop? Are you versatile in your business dealings, are you keeping up with the change in the economy and the trends in the market.  Are you making use of Social Media to network your business and expand your exposure to the world?

Value added ideas

In terms of your flexibility and creativity regarding your business, have you thought of any additional service to offer your guests or customers? It’s the small things that count such as a little chocolate on the guest’s pillow or a biscuit served with their cappuccino. Put yourself in your client’s shoes and discover for yourself how you would like to experience your business.

 Convenience

This is truly a large factor in our society in this day and age, how can you make your customer’s life easier whilst visiting your guest house, restaurant or shop?

Andrew Empey is co-owner of TreasureAfrica.com and he would like to share with you some of the experiences he’s had on his last trip to Durban.  We trust that we can press upon you the validity and value an experience can have on the success of your business. TreasureAfrica.com wishes you a prosperous and successful year ahead for 2011. Let’s hear what Andrew has to say about his journey.

‘There is nothing I enjoy than a few days away travelling and experiencing new places and venues!  These trips usually involve meticulous planning as I’m not a great one for leaving things to the last minute.   Alas I was called away at the very last minute to fly up to Durban and drive back down to Cape Town.  What a treat! But straight away I was trying to plan my route back down stop off and decide where to stay while I was on the road.

With a delayed flight up to Durban grrrrrrrrr! And then  having to reshuffle my meetings and collection time, I began searching only for accommodation sites that listed direct contact numbers for B & B’s/ Guest houses and voila! Within minutes of searching quickly each day of the journey I had found wonderful places to stay at?  OK what’s so special about that you may ask? Well the fact is a huge percentage of potential guests don’t want trawl through commission based web sites and then have to wait for reply by email enquiry but just simply want pick up the phone and call you! After all in a situation like mine I didn’t have time to wait! My point here is (and I know you wondering when I would get to it!) is ………. how many of us actually ask our guest who called and stayed with us “Where did you see us advertised?”  Well of the guest houses and B & B’s I stayed at not one of them asked!! It’s incredible really, but it’s just a reminder that there are a huge amount of visitors out there who just simply prefer to call you than email you which is another great reason to keep listed with TreasureAfrica.com! But moreover remember to ask where your enquiry came from!’

It is our intention to share with you the key pointers to assist you in prospering and expanding your business.  Please do not hesitate to contact us should you require any further assistance.

Yours sincerely,

Adriana Levi

EXCITING DEVELOPMENT FOR TREASUREAFRICA

Dear Friends of TreasureAfrica,

As you know my husband, Pierre and I started TreasureAfrica.com in 2002, listing our own guest house. We soon realised the potential of the website for other providers of accommodation, and for marketing the destination of Hout Bay. Listings increased and we shared enquiries while populating the site with interesting information about Hout Bay. Very soon we had a steady flow of enquiries.

Sustaining the success of TreasureAfrica has become a full time responsibility and therefore, after careful consideration we decided to hand over management of this website for the benefit of Hout Bay and all its tourism providers. I’m pleased to announce the new owners of TreasureAfrica, Bryan Harris and Andrew Empey.

Andrew and Bryan are perfect for the job. They love Hout Bay as much as we do and are involved in Hout Bay community and tourism initiatives. Furthermore, they have a strong European network to whom they market the site. We have been working together to revitalise the website.

Andrew and Bryan settled in Hout Bay a few years ago, and started a brand new tourism business, Hout Bay View, which they have successfully built it up into another Hout Bay gem.

I’m delighted they have taken up the challenge of managing TreasureAfrica and wish them many successful years of marketing our beautiful village and its treasures!

To formally launch the revitalised TreasureAfrica with its new management we will be having a small function at La Cuccina, Hout Bay on 14 October. Formal invitations to follow.

I would like to thank you for your support over the past 7 years, and I trust that you will show the same support to Andrew and Bryan, I certainly will.

Yours sincerely,

Retha van Staden
